    Hit Google and Verizon where it hurts them the most their pockets. If everyone dosen’t use Google for 2 months January & February 2011, and all Verizon customers don’t pay their bills for 2 months also January & February 2011. They will both get the message that they are Big, but we the People are BIGGER. Vive Net Neutrality !!

    @mycompasstv All …
    @mycompasstv All these things may be true, but they have nothing to do with Net Neutrality. Everyone having equal access is a reference to all internet sites being able to transmit their sites equally. For example, Verizon may chose to buy Amazon.com. and they may decide that every other business that sells similar items on their site should be slowed down to the point that they become almost impossible use–or blocked out completely.

    @CmdrTobs and on my network Facebook itself is going to be just as shutdown as ever.

  17. romanmir01 Says:

    @CmdrTobs You don’t …
    @CmdrTobs You don’t understand first thing about this and you like to comment a lot, let me tell you what is GOING to happen. The wireless Internet providers will be competing with each other on this, just as well as on other points, like speed and bandwidth and latency, the Government will take a piss, there will be new networks and protocols created to improve the freenet and Tor, Free wireless networks will appear to compete, just like Free Software competes with MS and the rest. Innovation.

  18. romanmir01 Says:

    @CmdrTobs No, I …
    @CmdrTobs No, I don’t think anybody has any specific right to use my network the way they desire, as long as my network is totally privately built, so shut the up. I set the rules how my networks operate, I set the rules what the people on my network are allowed and not allowed to access. They can accept the rules, or they can move to a different network. A facebook guy is not even in my radar, for all I care he can drive his access through all the competitors, not my interest.

  19. CmdrTobs Says:

    @romanmir01 Shut …
    @romanmir01 Shut the up. What the are you talking about. You have NO comprehension skills. You are talking about things that DO NOT APPLY. You’re one of those stupid who read like1/5 of “The road to serfdom” and go around miss applying & miss understanding every thing stated.

    Its so simple: Do you think Facebook ,started by a solo collage kid, could exist today if he had to pay an ISPs access levy for traffic revived? It would CRUSH innovation. You are totally insane.

  20. CmdrTobs Says:

    @mycompasstv Net …
    @mycompasstv Net neutrality existed before it became apparent to business types their was a lot of money in internet advertising.

    I bizarrely sympathise with ISPs. They have to take much smaller profits and provide much larger capital investment to provide internet access yet they are providing the means for companies like google who use a few servers that push targeted advertising to make BILLIONS.

    Though they should realise it’s tough luck, its a free market.

    @TheMWGriffin So …
    @TheMWGriffin So when you say: “argument fails. Period.”, it’s because you have not a single clue of what you are speaking.

    Government created the landline monopoly by nationalizing the land lines and giving the power to one corporation. Telcos working in wireless have plenty competition because it’s not nationalized, because the cost of entry is low, because wireless is not regulated to be a so called ‘common carrier’. You don’t even have an argument because you are ignorant. Period.

  23. romanmir01 Says:

    @TheMWGriffin …
    @TheMWGriffin tinyurl(dot)(com)/388qq7c – you should read this, it’s the latest thread on /. where I discuss it, I have done so many times before. Government regulations leads to monopolies, Standard Oil was not a monopoly when antitrust act was applied, there was already 5 or 6 competitors, it was retaliation by government.

    All large corporate monopolies are created with government money/ties/corruption, not otherwise. Natural monopolies exist only as long as market can bear the price/quality.

  24. TheMWGriffin Says:

    @romanmir01 So are …
    @romanmir01 So are you saying that regulations should not exist for anything? Because that is truly asinine. If we had no regulation of corporations than that would mean that monopolies could exist, where you have NO competition. So your argument fails. Period.

  25. romanmir01 Says:

    @BOZ11 Net …
    @BOZ11 Net Neutrality is just another regulation. As all regulations do, it will distort the market, will prevent innovation, will reduce competition, will reallocate resources from productive to unproductive parts of economy

    The politicians are corrupt and will always be corrupt, thus their power must always be diminished not increased, or else they will always abuse it for their own gain and it’s worse than any corporation can do.

    Net neutrality is a question of competition, not regulations.
