I haven’t been in the hosting game for a while now, and I have forgotten things,
but before I had a web adress through a DNS server, I would give people my IP adress. I also used my setup for picture hosting, and never once got an attack. At the time I had a very comprehensive firewall that claimed it could track down hackers, and give you their adress. Also most IP’s are dynamic, harder to hack, change often enough

@MrJosiahT Well, yeah. Through a IRC or HostBooter. Once they complie the bot and spread it they are able to execute a DDOS attack from a IRC server to the Victims.

@MrJosiahT Well, the port would be around 80 as it is always open but if you want to take down people in xbox-live or any online games its is 3074 , something like that. I don’t know that much but every DDOS attacks are made with more then 1 zombies. Zombies are infected computers which connect the computer to a IRC or a HostBooter which later on can be used for a DDOS attack. It wouldn’t think that much Zombies, around 80 or more, depending on the Zombies computer and the script your using IRC.

@AsianReviews Your knowledge must surpass mine…through what port could that be done? Windows Firewall blocks almost every service anyway. You can trace IPs right from emails, when you figure out how to plant a bot on a spammers computer, let me know. I’m not arguing with you, better safe than sorry…but it’s not that dangerous.
